We
moved to our current small farm in
September 2009. We are located approximately ten
minutes from downtown Huntington, West
Virginia and less than minutes
from the Ohio and Kentucky borders.
I
am originally from West Virginia, and my
husband, a former US Marine SGT (2000-2004) is from Clearwater, Florida.
We have three young sons, and hope to allow
them to grow up with traditional values and
useful knowledge that so many kids are not
able to acquire these days in our
society.

In
the midst of greater tragedy than most
people could ever fathom, we have also
had some blessings along the way that have
allowed us to have this farm and operate an equine rescue, and you can learn more about this and
our farm's name on
this page.
Although I've wanted to live the life of a
homesteader for as long as I can remember,
we officially started working toward this goal back in 2007. My husband became
interested in dairy goats, and we purchased
the beginnings of our herd in the spring of 2008.
In late winter of the same year, we began
equine rescue.
So
our herd began, and we have since added more
breeds of dairy goats, dairy cattle, Blue and Siver Laced Wyandottes and endangered
Silver Fox
Rabbits.
I believe that life should be worth living. You should do things that matter, that make an impact, that require giving something of yourself every single day. I make an honest effort to volunteer my time and teach my children the importance of this in a society so wrapped up in television, video games and sports (all that is vain)! I am a volunteer photographer and area coordinator for www.NILMDTS.org and a volunteer child advocate for CASA. I am also the local Weston A Price chapter leader and am the director for the only area 501(c)3 equine rescue group, and even then, I feel there is more to give, more to be done! Never feel you cannot make an impact in some way in your area!

journey, and we are so thankful for the
advice, help, and friendship we've found
from others who are also living a similar
lifestyle.

As
a note: I am a 15-year ova-lacto vegetarian;
however, I am a HUGE supporter of raising
your own animals and getting away from
commercially raised and slaughtered animals.
While I personally just choose not to eat
meat, we raise some livestock for food in
order to provide my husband and children
with humaely-raised meat, and sometimes
locally offer alternatives to store-bought
products.
Buy only humanely-raised meats, and
humanely-gained eggs and dairy!
We

We, because of our
son's needs,...unschool. This is
something that seems to go hand-in-hand with
animal husbandry, hobby farming, and the
like. We always like to get in touch
